ABOUT JACKMANIA ...

When I started traveling as a DJ, I got into the habit of carrying a small camera or whatever phone I had with me at the time. I wasn't thinking about making a documentary. I just wanted to save those moments because I had a feeling they meant something. Looking back now, I'm really glad I did.

One day in New York I met Joseph Valentin from the Funky Soul Rebels. We started talking about House Music, and then he told me about his mother, who used to dance at The Loft. Hearing that story gave me goosebumps. It wasn't just another conversation. It was living history, told by someone who had grown up surrounded by it.

That's when everything changed for me. I realized these stories couldn't stay between the two of us. They deserved to be shared.

The idea for Jackmania was born there, but it actually started taking shape back home in A Coruña. I had no budget, no crew, no production company behind me. Just a camera in my hand, years of memories, and the desire to preserve something I felt was too important to lose.

As I kept traveling, I started recording conversations with people I'd met throughout my career. DJs, producers, promoters, clubbers and friends who, just like me, had dedicated a big part of their lives to House Music. Some were playing to thousands of people around the world. Others were just beginning their journey. Some had created collectives to keep the underground alive. Different paths, different stories, but the same passion.

In the end, Jackmania became much more than a documentary. It brings together the voices of more than fifty DJs, promoters and clubbers from different parts of the world. People who have invested their time, energy and heart into building a culture around the underground Deep House sound. What they share isn't just their experience. They talk about where they came from, what they've sacrificed, the disappointments they've faced and the dreams that still keep them moving forward.

This documentary was filmed around 2010, right when everything was changing. DJs were moving from vinyl to digital, technology was transforming the way we played, produced and discovered music, and everyone seemed to have a different opinion about where our culture was heading. Looking back now, those conversations feel even more meaningful because many of the questions we were asking back then are still with us today.

What you'll see here isn't perfect, and that's exactly why I love it. It's real. The footage comes from old phones and small video cameras that I always carried with me. There are no scripts, no fancy production, no staged moments. Just real people, real conversations and real memories captured exactly as they happened.

For me, House Music has never been just about records or DJs. It's about people. It's about friendships, long nights, clubs, studios, road trips and those moments that quietly end up changing your life without you even realizing it.

Behind the decks, making records and traveling the world, I wanted to leave something behind that wasn't another track or another remix. I wanted to tell the story of the people who have kept this culture alive, often without recognition, simply because they believe in it.

Jackmania "It´s All About House Music"  is my way of saying thank you to everyone who has been part of that journey.

I hope you enjoy watching this documentary as much as I enjoyed living every moment that's in it. Thanks for being part of the journey.

  • There are moments in life that stay with you forever, and this is definitely one of them. I never imagined that someone like Carl Craig would take the time to record a message like this for me. It honestly means more than I can put into words.

  • I've admired Carl for as long as I can remember. Not only because of his music, which has always inspired me as a DJ and producer, but because of the way he carries himself. There's a calmness and confidence behind the decks that I've always respected. He's one of those rare artists who never needed to shout to make a statement. He simply lets the music speak.

  • In this video, Carl talks about his experience with me in A Coruña, the way we both understand dance music, and the friendship we built over the years. Hearing him describe those memories from his own perspective is something I'll always treasure.

  • This footage is part of my documentary, Jackmania, It's All About House Music, released in 2015. The documentary was built from old videos I had recorded over many years while traveling with nothing more than the cameras and phones I always carried with me. It brings together conversations with DJs, producers and key figures from our scene, each sharing their thoughts on the past, present and future of House Music.

  • Watching this again reminds me why I wanted to make that documentary in the first place. It's not about fame or recognition. It's about preserving moments, friendships and conversations that deserve to live on. Thank you, Carl. Your words are a gift I'll always be grateful for.
